Popularity of 'Captions available' over time
This chart shows the amount of games released over the years with the Captions available feature and the percentage of games released on Steam they account for. The number of releases gives a sense of the amount of games published each year. It often increases, following the total amount of Steam games released.
The percentage, on the other hand, gives a better idea of the trend a feature follows. It shows if, in proportion, the Captions available feature is getting more or less popular from a developer's perspective. The Review chart will tell us if this trend is a good thing (i.e. players interest is increasing, feature is undercrowded) or if it's the opposite.
The Captions available game feature peaked in 2017 with 184 games released. The popularity of the feature is in a range between 1.1% in 2013 and 0.22% in 2023.
Bear in mind that 2023 is not over yet. The number of releases will continue to increase, but the percentage is already a good estimate of things to come.
Evolution of 'Captions available' game reviews
This chart shows the reviews for games with the Captions available feature, either as count and as a percentage of all Steam reviews, and the average value for a game. Note that if the chart is cluttered, you can always deactivate some lines by clicking on the legend.
The review count gives a view of the sheer amount of reviews a feature receives, but it also follows the popularity of Steam itself. That is why the normalized value as a percentage of all Steam reviews is often more interesting, as it gives you the popularity trend for Captions available feature games.
A typical game associated with this feature collected on average between 304 (2010) and 1958 (2014) reviews. Bear in mind that it is the average, and it can be strongly influenced by extreme values, like the release of a very popular game with this feature.
The reviews per game as a percentage of the average show that games in the Captions available feature received between 208% (2017) and 839% (2010) reviews compared to other features.
