Popularity of 'Steam Cloud' over time
This chart displays the games released over the years with the Steam Cloud feature and the percentage of total Steam releases they represent. The number of releases gives a sense of the amount of games published each year. It often increases, following the total amount of Steam games released.
The percentage, on the other hand, gives a better view of the trend a feature follows. It shows if, in proportion, the Steam Cloud feature is getting more or less popular. The Review chart will tell us if this trend is a good thing (i.e. players interest is increasing, feature is undercrowded) or if it's the opposite.
The Steam Cloud game feature peaked in 2022 with 2663 games released. The popularity of the feature is in a range between 9.4% in 2014 and 6.4% in 2018.
Keep in mind that the current year is not over, so the number of games released will still increase. But the percentage is usually a good estimate.
Evolution of 'Steam Cloud' game reviews
On this chart, you can see the reviews for games associated with the Steam Cloud feature, both as count and as a percentage of all Steam reviews, and the value for an average game. Note that if the chart is cluttered, you can always deactivate some lines by clicking on the legend.
The review count gives a view of the sheer amount of reviews a feature receives, but it also follows the popularity of Steam itself. That is why the normalized value as a percentage of all Steam reviews is often more interesting, as it gives you the popularity trend for Steam Cloud feature games.
A typical game associated with this feature collected on average between 71 (2010) and 960 (2014) reviews. Keep in mind that it is the average and not the median, meaning it is heavily influenced by extreme values, like a very successful game with this feature.
The reviews per game as a percentage of the average show that games in the Steam Cloud feature received between 145% (2015) and 205% (2011) reviews compared to other features.
