Popularity of 'Single-player' over time
This graph shows games released over the years with the Single-player feature and the percentage they represent. The releases count conveys the quantity of games published on Steam each year. It usually follows the increasing amount of Steam games released.
The percentage gives a better estimate of the feature's trend. It shows if the Single-player feature is getting more or less popular amongst developers. The Review chart will tell us if this trend is a good thing (i.e. players interest is increasing, feature is undercrowded) or if it's the opposite.
The Single-player feature has peaked in 2022, with 11790 games released. The popularity of the feature is in a range between 17.1% in 2013 and 32.5% in 2023.
Keep in mind that the current year is not over, so the number of games released will still increase. But the percentage is usually a good estimate.
Evolution of 'Single-player' game reviews
This graph displays the reviews for games associated with the Single-player feature, both as count and as a percentage of all Steam reviews, and the value for an average game. Note that if the chart is cluttered, you can always deactivate some lines by clicking on the legend.
While the review count clearly quantifies the reviews a feature receives, keep in mind that it also follows the popularity of Steam itself. The value normalized as a percentage of all Steam reviews is often more revealing, as it gives you the popularity trend for Single-player feature games.
A typical game associated with this feature collected on average between 36 (2010) and 613 (2014) reviews. Keep in mind that it is the average and not the median, meaning it is heavily influenced by extreme values, like a very successful game with this feature.
The reviews per game as a percentage of the average show that games in the Single-player feature received between 86% (2017) and 100% (2010) reviews compared to other features.
