This graph shows games released over the years with the Classic tag and the percentage they represent. The number of releases gives a sense of the amount of games published each year. It often increases, following the total amount of Steam games released.
The percentage, on the other hand, gives a better idea of the trend a tag follows. It shows if, in proportion, the Classic tag is getting more or less popular from a developer's perspective. The Review chart will tell us if this trend is a good thing (i.e. players interest is increasing, tag is undercrowded) or if it's the opposite.
The Classic game tag peaked in 2014 with 152 games released. The popularity of the tag is in a range between 1.9% in 2010 and 0.0052% in 2023.
Keep in mind that the current year is not over, so the number of games released will still increase. But the percentage is usually a good estimate.
